Writing Strengths and Weaknesses and Four Goals

I've never really thought of myself as a great writer when it comes to essays or research papers; however, I love to write songs. So if we're talking about any form of writing, as far as my strengths go, I would say songwriting is one of them. I had a great opportunity to write with a award-winning songwriter in Nashville one summer, so I love to write songs. Also, I would say I know grammar pretty well. I had a teacher in eighth grade who would make us dissect sentences. I don't know why, but I always found it kind of fun, so I guess it just stuck with me all these years.

Contrary to my strengths, there are my weaknesses. I feel less confident about my pre-writing organization skills. I guess I feel like I have so much to say in my head that it just gets really jumbled up on paper. I have so many ideas that I just get confused on where would be the best place to put it in the paragraph and how I want it to impact the reader. Also, I have issues with spelling. I always have, and I always will. It's just something I've decided to accept, plus there's spell check, so that's good.

My four goals I'd like to achieve by the end of the semester are: my organization skills, my spelling, my vocabulary, and my thesis structures. If and when I achieve these goals, I will feel self-accomplished and more confident in my writing abilities.
