Writing Strengths, Weaknesses, and Goals (Revised)

I have always thought of myself as a decent writer but as I excelled through high school I found that I struggled with the basics of writing. Grammar and proper punctuation have always been small weaknesses of mine. However, I find that I am very good at elaborating and sharing ideas, especially when it comes to getting my point across. I enjoy creative writing and writing on topics I feel strongly about. Other forms of writing, like informative essays, are more difficult to write due to my lack of interest. None the less, goals I am setting for myself in this class are to at least ace one paper, improve my organization skills and vocabulary, and become an overall better reader and writer.

Writing Strengths and Weaknesses and Four Goals

I've never really thought of myself as a great writer when it comes to essays or research papers; however, I love to write songs. So if we're talking about any form of writing, as far as my strengths go, I would say songwriting is one of them. I had a great opportunity to write with a award-winning songwriter in Nashville one summer, so I love to write songs. Also, I would say I know grammar pretty well. I had a teacher in eighth grade who would make us dissect sentences. I don't know why, but I always found it kind of fun, so I guess it just stuck with me all these years.

Contrary to my strengths, there are my weaknesses. I feel less confident about my pre-writing organization skills. I guess I feel like I have so much to say in my head that it just gets really jumbled up on paper. I have so many ideas that I just get confused on where would be the best place to put it in the paragraph and how I want it to impact the reader. Also, I have issues with spelling. I always have, and I always will. It's just something I've decided to accept, plus there's spell check, so that's good.

My four goals I'd like to achieve by the end of the semester are: my organization skills, my spelling, my vocabulary, and my thesis structures. If and when I achieve these goals, I will feel self-accomplished and more confident in my writing abilities.

Writing Strengths, weaknesses and four goals

I do not think I have strengths in writing, but one of the things I am good at is I think of ideas and brainstorm pretty well. Once I get interested and understand the topic I can talk about it a lot. I've never considered myself as a good writer; but when I was in elementary school, I loved to write poems.I think I am good at grammar and punctuation.

One of my weaknesses is if it is a hard topic, I may take a while trying to think what i should talk about. I also consider myself to write kind of informal since English is not my first language. I also need to learn how to organize my thoughts and get to the point.

My goals for this class are to be a great writer, learn how to write correctly in a formal way, learn how to organize my thoughts and write them in the correct way, and organize my essays.
