When I was young, I always liked to
perform. I started performing in my school with the school band. Later on, at
the beginning of my high school years, I performed with my own band, and during
my senior year I was a drummer in another band. I always liked music, but I
never had the chance to perform on a radio show. This opportunity was presented
to me on Monday afternoon.
I have never been part of a radio
show, but I have always wanted to share my music in any way I could. On Monday
afternoon, I received a call from the Crescent city radio station manager about
a position in the radio to do a show. I was surprised to know that the Loyola
radio wanted me to be a DJ at the station. I immediately replied yes. I
normally think things through, but in this case I didn’t hesitate.
The radio station manager told me to
do a test online and, also without hesitating, I did it. Two days later he
later told me that I passed the test and asked me to start next week, I immediately
replied that I wanted to start this week, not the next. The station manager,
now my boss, told me that it was ok to start on Thursday.
It was a shock to me that now I had
a position at the Loyola radio station, something I have never done before. On Wednesday
afternoon, I dedicated my time to prepare shows for the next four weeks, even a
special Halloween edition playlist for next week.
I
was now nervous to be on a radio, with many people listening to me talking and
sharing music. Today, Thursday, after my math class I headed to the radio
station and did my show. I started with a nervous voice, but ended with a calm
and relaxed voice. After the show ended, my dad texted me and told me he was
listening to my show the whole time. I was surprised that he listened to my
show, because my music is not the normal music he enjoys listening to. Even so
I was happy that he took time from his job to listen to my show. I just hope
next week more people tune in to listen to my radio show, I would really like
for more people to listen to the music I enjoy listening to every day.
