Thompson: When Typical Turned Tragic

This is the second time I've ever wrote this story, and I've never said it out loud, because its easier for me to write than it is for me to say it.
The year was 2005, and my family and I had just returned from a road trip.  We traveled up to , Fresno, CA to visit family friends that lived up there.  I had a blast we all had so much fun and no one was looking forward to having to go back home to go to school on Monday.
Needless to say Monday came, and we went to school.  That morning started off just like every other morning.  Our dad turned on the lights to our came room witch connected the room my brother and I shared to the room my other two brothers shared.  The lights to the game room shined into our rooms signaling us to wake up, brush our teeth, comb our hair, and put our clothes on.  Then we went to school.
We attended Culverdale Elementary in Irvine, Ca, and at the time Malik, Markus, and I were in the 5th grade and Mykal was in the 4th.  School had come and gone, so we went to an after school day care and that’s when the rest of my life changed.
It was around 3:30, I remember because snack time is always around 3:30, when my dad came to pick us up.  This was different because we never got picked up before snack time, and we more often than not get pick up by our mom.  Another weird thing was that he came and got us from outside; usually after our parents signed us out they went straight to the car and waited for us.  He said “go grad your stuff and wait in the car.”  As we headed to the car we noticed another phenomenon, not only was our mom there, but she was in the driver’s seat.  My mom never drives when she’s with my dad.  I knew something was off but I didn’t know what. Once our dad caught up with us yet another unexpected change happened, my dad hopped into the second row seating.  I looked at the rear view mirror, to see my mom with her head down, so I turned to look at my dad and that’s when he sighed and said “Um. While we were gone your Uncle Alton (my mom’s Brother) went out with Jeff (my dad’s Cousin), and it was raining and they crashed, Uncle Alton Passed away.”
