I am a disciplined, but vague writer. I write with thought - that's a strength; in turn, writing within a time limit slows me down, way down, which is a weakness of mine. Usually, creativity and clarity is present in my writing when I do have time to think while writing. Another problem I have is writing choppy sentences. Sometimes repetition is also apparent in my writing, probably due to laziness or exhaustion; for instance, two paragraphs in my senior high school paper covered two of the same issues. Fortunately, I realized this, in my final draft of my paper included those two paragraphs covering two different unique issues; consider attention-to-detail a strength he attributes to his writing.
There are four goals I would like to accomplish in writing. I desperately want to accomplish writing with confidence. I want to stop worrying about what looks or is right in my writing, and be concerned with revision afterwards. Another goal I consider accomplishing is completing this course with at least a basic understanding of the writing techniques that will be presented through this course. Brainstorming is something I feel the need to get used to, but don't necessarily want to, because I prefer just going straight into the full-body portion of writing, as I believe that brainstorming isn't necessary for me. One last goal I'd like to accomplish is expanding my vocabulary so I can add more clarity to my writing and avoid repetition... I believe myself still on a path to finding out who I am as a writer and that my time in this course will help me exploit skills that are for the better in my writing, and habits in my writing that I may want to capitalize on.
