We are built with strengths as well as weaknesses. No matter the circumstances with practice weaknesses can be changed to strengths. can always change your weakness into strength by practicing your weakness. Many of us have the ability of writing others may not, many are working on it.
Writing can be viewes as a strength or a weakness. Those who struggle with writing can have trouble with forming a thesis statement, or may lack the ability of a proper sentence structure. With practice, however, writing can be improved. With the correct subject verb agreement forming a basic sentence would be easier. Also the issue of forming a thesis statement, could be solved by organizing thoughts through brainstorming. Through practice, I gained the ability to improve my writing. Organizing writing, editing, and rough draft would be some strengths for me. These qualities are valuable when it comes to writing in many ways; organizing your writing is valuable because you don’t want your paper to be considered "all over the place". Proof reading and editing comes in handy as well in many factors. Many wouldn’t want mistakes in there paper that’s going to be graded but would want there paper to be presentable. It's reccommended by many teachers that having a rough draft is very important. Making bullets or free write gives an idea of whats going to be written. That’s valuable because incorporating all strengths; organizing my writing, and editing are all about having a rough draft. With this I gain the confidence in my skills. I know my ability and what extent I can do.
However, I myslef do need an extra push when it comes to writing, with strength comes a weakness. Second guessing my writing would be a huge weakness for me as well as using vocabulary that would make a paper sound better. I would type a paper thinking and knowing I put in one-hundred percent but eventually second guess myself. I’m not much of a "book worm". Books never interest me growing up. I was the type to be playing outside or involved in sports. I would be seen with a book only if it was assigned from school, or for summer reading and I think that’s why I lack in vocabulary.
Being a mass Communications major, writing is one of its main factor. My goal is to better myself in writing. It’s not an easy but it's important to put in work. I’m always willing to improve my ability in writing. Even though I struggle I know I’m willing to get help whether asking my professor or going to the WAC center. I wish to develop better writing abilities and work on my weaknesses by being in Expository Writing.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteWork on organizing your paragraphs around a single idea. That idea usually appears in the first sentence of the paragraph, your topic sentence. You'll want to have an introductory paragraph, a paragraph on your strengths, a paragraph on your weaknesses, and at least one paragraph on your four writing goals.
Be sure to read your work aloud before posting it or handing it in. Reading aloud will help you hear some of the syntax, grammar, or organizational issues in your writing. Revise! Proofread!
Come and see me.
