Throughout my life my weaknesses in writing have always been grammar errors. For example, I am not really sure how to structure certain sentences and how to properly use past and present tenses. This has held me back from achieving higher skill levels in writing. Another weakness in my writing is trying to write about a topic that is hard for me. When I am faced with a difficult topic to write about I struggle coming up with thoughts and ideas to write about. The most difficult thing for me to do when writing is critical thinking. This is something I've always struggled with and hope to improve in.
My strengths in writing consist of free writing, constant flow of thoughts and ideas and choosing a good topic to write about. I find it easy and relaxing to just free write about whatever is on your mind, by doing this i feel like it improves a person's ability to have a consistent flow of thoughts when writing. If i am writing about something I'm really interested in the work I do will be much better and it will be easier to gather ideas.
My Goals for this semester in this class are to improve on this skills I lack and to expand my knowledge of writing. By doing this it will not only help me in this class but also in all my other classes. I know my writing is not perfect and needs a lot of work but I am willing to do what i need in order to be successful. The most important goal I hope to learn from this class is how to perfectly write a college level essay so that i will further succeed in writing all of my other essays for other classes. Moreover, in order to accomplish all of this I need to stay on top my work and get it done.
Hi Jordan. I would suggest getting more specific about your goals. The more specific you get with each goal, the more you can focus in on that particular issue. Also, come and see me in my office so we can iron out some of the grammar issues in your essay.
